The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery
The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Inc. functions to serve the best interests of the public and of the medical profession by establishing educational standards for orthopaedic residents and by evaluating the initial and continuing qualifications and knowledge of orthopaedic surgeons.


American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons provides education and practice management services for orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals. The Academy also serves as an advocate for improved patient care and informs the public about the science of orthopaedics.
  • The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, founded in 1933, is the preeminent provider of musculoskeletal education to orthopaedic surgeons and others in the world. Its continuing medical education activities include a world-renowned Annual Meeting, multiple CME courses held around the country and at the Orthopaedic Learning Center, and various medical and scientific publications and electronic media materials.


  • The American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, founded by the Academy Board of Directors in 1997, engages in health policy and advocacy activities on behalf of musculoskeletal patients and the profession of orthopaedic surgery.



International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SICOT)
SICOT is an international not-for-profit association incorporated under Belgian law with the aim to advance the science and art of orthopaedics and traumatology at an international level and to foster, develop, support and encourage teaching, research and education.

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) is a not-for-profit scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the care of the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.

The Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA)
